SomnoMed MATRx™ is a new technology that enables a sleep laboratory to predict a patient’s target protrusive position. This is the position of the jaw that obstructs breathing during sleep and is the cause of Obstructed Sleep Apnea, the most common sleep apnea cause.
Sleep Apnea patients attend a sleep study in which their mandibular (lower jaw) protrusive position and the onset of obstructed sleep apnea are measured with the MATRx.
During the sleep study the MATRx appliance measures the position of the mandibular and will determine the proper position of the jaw which results in effective treatment of the patient’s OSA.
